7 Little Bitterns probably came to
breed and have been seen on nearly every visit to JEO. Last time one was
seen on 9th July after which a fire broke in JEO on 11th
July and half of reeds had caught fire. Smoke deterred bird from the
reeds for a week. Probably the fire was started by the Camel herders to
make way for cutting reeds for their herds.

A fire has started yesterday
afternoon after I left (told by a camel herder from Rajestan) half the
(reeds) phragmites have been destroyed, I was also that the fire was
started from the middle and spread out. The birds were away from the
reeds into the sea shore because of intensive smoke rising from the
middle.
